Old habits die hard.
Killed me to quit you,
knew it would,
it didn't hurt too bad
but you did.
Took a piece of you with me, did I?
Sorry, didn't mean to.
Meant to leave you as you were,
a clean cut,
free like the leaf off the tree.
Free to fly, free to die, lying on the ground,
away from that which gave you life.
