Sinking, sinking
Into this pit
This abyss
Life’s current
Passes me by
Carries me away
Down the stream
Drifts what once was

Sinking, sinking
Until I hit the bottom
Calm, placid as I drown
Accepting fate
Accepting what needs to happen
This water is my pain,
Do you see as it forms around me?
This water is the mistakes I’ve made,
The pieces of my broken heart

Sinking, sinking
Such a thick liquid
It pulls me down
This river that is my tears
Is teeming with life
The life of sorrow
The life of haunted eyes
So many strangers’ eyes
They drown with me,
With my memories

Sinking, sinking
Is this drowning,
If there is no struggle?
Just sinking
All I’ve ever done is sink
Sink into love,
Sink into pain
To me, they’re the same,
Love and pain
Both causing tears

Sinking, sinking
As I cry, the river swells more
Making the water thicker
So I sink
Allow the water
To pull me in,
And I smile,
I smile and sink,
I sink,
Finally happy
