Too Simple

She was literature and Hemingway.
He was theoretical physics and comic books.

They were both romantic comedies,
eating chinese food three times a week,
walking in warm California rain showers
and drinking rum with everything.

They were both foolishly young,
not ready for each other’s burdens,
not even strong enough for their own,
yet willing to take the risk.
