Their eyes are all cold…

distant, and scrutinizing.

Judgmental faces,

evaluating me.

Critical.

No, this isn't a smile.

Not anymore.

Maybe it was,

years ago...

But after ten lifetimes of

near adolescent scrutiny…

That smile is no longer mine.

It was a smile only for him!

But he's gone and has

abandoned me here.

Trapped forever,

Within a frame.

Judgmental faces,

distant and scrutinizing.

Their eyes are all cold.

This piece is from the point of view of Mona Lisa, (from da Vinci's painting), and what she must feel from within her frame.
