Narcissus
Pompous pride and covetous envy
defile from the soul to the flesh.
Superiority is the perception
gained when reality is lost.
Even the fairest of them all,
falls prey to it's intense control.
Even a hero's hubris turns to folly.
The Renowned is drawn away by his nemesis.
As he stares into the pool,
his own eyes hold him captive.
Fastened to the spot, he withers,
losing merit and life.
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Will you be my downfall?
