I'm not one for saying
BREAK OUT OF THIS BOX!
I like form and routine,
Predictability and syllabuses,

I like uniform things.

But when it comes to poetry
That's not my way.
Tell me:
Just fill in the blanks!

I'll stare at the page with eyes red aflame

but wet with tears
--enraged at such a thought
(I always was the dramatic type)

Yet nonetheless, I don't like the rhyme,
the pattern,

the form,
When it comes to poetry-- I like
going against the norm

I wrote this during English class as my teacher was explaining assignment of writing an "easy, formula poem". It was born in a moment of <slight> anger.
