Everything

Everything was perfect;
every kiss we shared,
every touch of our hands,
every smile you smiled,
sent my heartbeat racing.

Everything was right;
every whisper in my ear,
every word you spoke,
every promise you made,
made me feel safe inside.

Everything went wrong;
every minute of my time,
every breath I breathed,
every laugh I forced,
felt wrong without you.

Everything went blank;
every love song I heard,
every movie I sat through,
every dream about you,
sent me into a fit of tears.

Everything hurt;
every mention of your name,
every pass in the hall,
every couple I saw,
tore me in half.

Everything makes sense;
every lie you told,
every tear that could have been prevented,
every word you threw at me,
was all part of your plan.
