It waits until you’re almost asleep
And croons to you with its nightingale voice
Lulling, caressing, fondling
As it turns its scaled visage away
Cowering if your eyes are open

But if they’re not,
Stranger, beware
Of mustard gas
Of poppy seeds
Of anacondas
Which as you stroke them
Wind their tails around your neck

Oh my god this is dark, twisted, and demented! I love stuff like this! I love the thing with the anacondas! Keep writing like this!

This is kinda dark. But great! I love how you have to stop and think about it. Some great things have to be a little creepy :) Keep it up! and thanks for commenting on my work!

Thank you. My writing does sometimes lean toward the creepy side... (and you're welcome, I was waiting for something to show up :)

I really like this poem. It seems kinda dark, but it also really makes you think. It's very interesting! Thanks for reading and commenting on my poem, too!

Thanks, and you're welcome. I'm really glad that you like it. It was getting a little depressing that this poem was not getting any responses.
