The deserted desert nights,
So calm and breeze-endowed;
The desert maiden I am.
I sing so in praise of the Sahara.
The mid-day glare of the sun
When pierces into the eyes,
The camel carries on
And so do I, likewise.
Moving along with the camel,
Shimmying in its glory,
Basking under the Apollo,
I dance to the Tales of the Sahara.
My thirst is quenched
As the caravan continues,
When the elixir of life
Showers upon like the desert rain.
When my thirst is quenched,
I learn to live again;
My person sways of its own accord
As I sing to the Tales of the Sahara.
When the nights grow cold
And the soft fire does soothe,
About the glaring sun we forget
And the feast is a festive treat.
Guided by the soft fire
And all the melodies of the Sahara,
We breathe, calm and content,
Dancing with joy to the Tales of the Sahara.
