Looking Glass

The clock ticks, and there goes another day
An ongoing battle that doesn’t seem to end
The more roads I take, the more I go astray
This is a world I can’t seem to comprehend
I’ve spent years building up this display
The things I’ve done and said are pretend
Like Alice, just trying to find my way

Life through the looking glass is deceiving
Life through the looking glass is inconsistent

Why is it that they expect excellency from us?
But I can’t achieve what they want and expect
And so, I built up this fort designed for success
To be blown away as if it were sand, wrecked
Perhaps it’s time to find my rabbit of distress
He may be the helping hand I need to inspect
Time is running out now, It’s time to progress

Life through the looking glass is indecisive
Life through the looking glass is unreliable

I just want to be as cunning as the Cheshire Cat
And have the moon smile down on me with awe
I want to be someone the sun wants to shine at
And yet,all I do is dream and wish my heart raw
Where are the days when I just needed a nice pat?
But all this hoping and wishing is my biggest flaw
Because at the end of the day I still need help, stat.

Life through the looking glass is patronizing
Life through the looking glass is secretive

These are supposed to be the best days of our lives
The clock ticks, and there goes another day; why?
Yet, these are the days only the strongest survives
I’m not done yet, and I’m not ready for Good-bye

Life through the looking glass is exhausting
Life through the looking glass is ending.
