I Lay to Rest
These fingers of mine pluck you, from the cocoon of your bed,
wrapping tight around your blankets lifting up your heavy head.
Shifting, gently shifting I lay your body into mine,
swaying lithe and cooing softly in the warmth of evening wine.
Dancing in our moonlit shadow may I always be your nest,
your flushed and glistening skin upon my heart and naked chest.
Slip away pearlescent collar, you hang your lips upon my breast,
and with your steady gentle pull below these stars I lay to rest.
