Write me a picture

Pen in hand gliding smoothly on paper
It’s as if I’m conducting a grand symphony
Telling my orchestra of sentences when to play as the story progresses
I sow together so seamlessly the words on my page
As if I’m a designer pulling on thread
Bringing together the words like fabric into the shape I want them to be

As I dot my i’s so carefully
It’s like I’m an artist stippling
I put together dots and lines that mean nothing alone to make a portrait of my characters of a landscape of my setting

I smooth out the pieces of my story
Like a sculptor smooths out the sides of his master piece
My hands move across my clay mad of words until they look the way I wanted them to

While I add in detail
It’s like I’m a chef adding spices to a dish
Rereading my lines as if I’m taste checking

Writing is my favorite form of expression
As a photographer’s is to snap a photo
Either way we both want others to see what we want them to see
I write my readers a picture with the stories I tell
