For Emery, The night you left

Flesh against flesh
Soul against soul
The night you left was the night you told
That we would always be together
Bound by the past
And come what may
Our love would last

I kept the worries
Clutched deep to my chest,
For fear that the loudest
Would be your true quest

But when I mumbled
“Don’t end it all
Do promise me you’ll be always strong”
Your face replied with a solid façade
Though your true motives had begun to make way

When the first trace of you had disappeared
That night I looked into the eyes of fear
I had finished the hiding and running away
I had to admit possibilities stay

The phone light up at 3:38
And I had only imagined your fate
The words of the person who loved you the most
Spoke through to my heart with the voice of your ghost

And when you left, you abandoned me too
I’m the only one who knows the full truth

Your façade has shattered, my dear
And all the promises I held close
Fell with my tears when it the mattered most
The darkest hole you dug into had finally suffocated you

When I close my eyes and imagine your face,
I can almost hear taunt of your fate,
And even though the promise you broke
Left me with the hardest choke,
I’ll never forget what all that you gave
The night that you went away

Strikingly softly beautiful, I can hear tears between the lines, softly dropping, and bitter-sad.
