I’m sorry but

You annoy me sometimes, actually most of the time

And you pronounce her name wrong

It’s Adele. Not Adel-ay.

I’m sorry but

You don’t listen to me

And I don’t care about how she sounds like Carole King

I haven’t a clue who that is.

I’m sorry but

I kind of wanted to scream at you

Even though it might ruin the rest of your day

I hope you at least understood.

I’m sorry but

I’m glad the phone rang

So I wouldn’t have to talk to you

And we could both have a reason to be quiet.

I’m sorry but

I wish you would be like the other Dads sometimes

Who get their daughters flower bouquets

When they sing a solo really amazingly

I’m sorry but

If I don’t want to join the literary club as a freshman

I won’t.

And I don’t care what you say.

I’m sorry but

I’m not going to ask you for help with my math homework

I can do it myself

And I know you just want to watch the race anyways.

I’m sorry but

I hate it when you can’t just say

Sorry.

The author's comments:
I wrote this on a day when my dad was particularly annoying me. I will never show it to him of course, it was just to get my anger out. And also, he apparently never learned the correct way to apologize.
