After The Engagement

The sea was high, so it overflowed into my cup, and i sipped it
though it was bitter,
and I like it sweet
like the sea snakes swimming
beneath my feet
and hairs on my arms
curl up
as if they'd seen a ghost
flying flailing
screaming crawling
through the mud
like a 'Nam soldier
And they relax
like my cup of sweet tea.
