Flock of poisoned butterflies
The fluttering in my stomach
What’s left of our tangled ties?

My own measures steps on concrete
I’m counting, not ready for them to end
What will you say, when we meet?

It’s all too early in the morning
I don’t know why I signed up for this class
Sad thing is, with you, I know it won’t be boring

It’s all hinged on what never got to happen
I want to go back to that day
See where in the end we could begin

Right now I don’t want it to matter
Biting my lip, pushing it away
Thoughts of you refuse to scatter

Shaking breaths at the door
Will you act like a friend? Will you talk to me?
Hate so much that I want more

Had I gone after you
Attempted to make a difference in my favorite lost cause
Or even today- what would you do?

Clutter of butterflies
Shaky with fear
Hoping my memories aren’t lies

Sky blue, eyes blue
I’m remembering everything
Only to forget it all when I see you

Well, just venting about one of those awkward one-sided moments..
