Wartime.

Visceral and Haunting
A Day at War- utterly daunting.
Body, head, mind- completely sore.
Fatigue so strong, could crush a mind,
Stay Close Son, Or Be Left Behind.
Haught clean water,
Smokes too,
Kill in your dreams,
In real life too.
Damaging and Frightening,
Boys stream for mothers,
Amputated arms and lost lovers,
Bolts of lightening.

I joined to be a man,
Me Too! he’d say,
Shut your mouth- save it for the enemy ey?

A poem set from the perspective of some at War. Had the history of World War 2 in my mind when writing it.
