Holocaust poem
This horrid time of violence
That led to my demise
Started with the deaths of many
It all came by surprise.
Sitting with my children,
I sing them songs of joy,
Our always present love, these Nazis can't destroy.
In little over an hour now,
It seems so soon indeed,
Uproots the madness of Hitler's reign,
And exposes the evil seed,
I tell my kids I love them and nothing will ever change,
I see the Gestapo coming near
They're coming within our range.
I thought of Hitler's uprising,
The devil's plot against the chosen ones,
Anyone chosen above him, is anyone he shuns,
They took my family to the camp,
My wife began to weep
"it's ok" I say to her, and my words seemed very deep,
I told my family to stay relaxed, and they began to try,
And the souls of me and all the Jews were raised up to the sky.
