My Cinderella World
There is no break to be had
 No stops to be seen
 Everything must be perfect
 Everything must be clean
 No music will play
The only sound the broom sweeps
 The creatures that will lurk
 Are roaches and dirt
 While others might play
In this ugly house I stay
 Down on rugged knees
 Scrubbing the floor
 A homemade hermit
 Locked tight behind doors
 The only prince forthcoming
 A pillow and sweet dreams
This is the life of me
 A mother’s warmth a hidden treat
A gift only given after scrubbing feet
I’ve tried to leave but the leashes is too tight
A failed attempt over and over
There is no freedom in sight
It seems that these bars just won’t budge
So I just clean with a broom and sponge
There will be a day that I will be free
Till then I will just dream
The second my leash is loose
I’ll dust myself off and flee
 Till then I can dream
 I’ll dream
 Just dream
