Chaos surrounds you.
Anger sneaks into your body and pulses with your heart.
Good and evil combine into one; both of them keeping you alive.
But the anger masks the truth: sadness.
Deep down in your soul trying to break free, to fight the anger.
The grief is kept locked up; the anger is easier to handle.
Solitude is the only outlet.
Then the tears break through their dam and flow like waterfalls down my face.
The truth finally comes out of it's eternal resting place.

But soon the chaos creeps back in and the peace and silence is once again replaced with screams and hatred.
I know that they too have sadness that is masked. My family lives in an everlasting masquerade ball, waiting.
Waiting for each other to take off the masks and let the truth finally be revealed.

I wrote this while sitting on my roof, watching the clouds float by.
* I also went to Teen Ink's NYC Summer 11' writing camp.
