Maybe the consequence was just too great,
Or maybe he could stand to wait;
Either way he dodged the fate
That I have fallen to.
Somehow he could break the spell,
But I guess he decided not to tell
Me how I could escape this he**
That I have fallen to.
If only he’d see how the future would be,
And tell me that I could just be me,
Maybe then I’d rise off the knee
That I have fallen to.
I see he knew there’d be nowhere to go
When I lost in wrestling the eternal foe,
And I’d like to think he wouldn’t know
That I have fallen, too.
