Ring, ring!
Goes the phone.
Thump, thump!
Goes my heart.
I pray it’s you,
But endure disappointment.
Patter, patter!
Goes my tears.
I sit and wait,
Wait in vain.
Tap, tap!
Goes my feet.
I wait until I fall asleep,
When I can barely keep my eyes open.
Yawn, yawn.
Goes my mouth,
Knowing all hope is lost.
