A dark room
Curtain of mysteries
Excited silence
Chaos the next moment
It made the ghosts go away
For the first time
We searched for reasons
Eyes opened
Lips parted to speak
Voices in the room
Harsh and lovely
Fear and pride
Love and despair
It was happiness
In that dark room

The author's comments:
Seventh grade was a strange year. The thing I remember most about it was being in the classroom of the most eccentric teacher on campus...and somehow feeling at home. I still visit the teacher every month or so, because the memories in that room are unforgettable and I owe that much to him.
