August
I miss
The heat of your skin
Pressed so gently
Against mine
Like the sun
On a warm spring day
Kissing my flesh
With rays of hope
Your hair interlaced
With my fingers
Slips away
Like the sand
That glides between my toes
And the faith you gave me
Floats away
With the retreat of the tide
I’m beginning to forget
The sapphire shine
Of your eyes
How they twinkled
Like stars on charcoal nights
Love shot across the canvass
Of my soul
Like a shooting star
Fleeting, but nonetheless occurred
Take me back to those days
Where everything
Was full of light
And positivity thrived
Enchantment grew
Like wildflowers
And this thunder
Didn’t exist in my heart
