Inside of Me

There's a girl
inside of me
but you can't see her
unless you try

she needs room to breathe,
space to grow
time to make mistakes
a chance to find her own way

she's beautiful, she knows it too
the world is hers to change
she thinks tomorrow will be better
in fact, she knows

but she's so sick of waiting
for the chance to live
and hates that she's wasting hours on this

there's a girl inside of me
trapped, withered, still
who has everything
who wants nothing
but to know happiness
in its simplest forms.
