Temperamental Hope

Hope dangles on a string
So tantalizingly mesmerizing
It must be wonderful to own it
To hide it in a coat pocket
Until the words fall flat
And the sky is stained
To pull it out
Like a glimmering star
And watch it grow until the ink
Fades away
And hope is saved
For another day
My hope is a spider
That spins its webs like a veil
To shield me from the outside world
It creates lies that are my sustenance
And it tattoos my mind
Until it is all I have left
False hope
