Starting off as a speck
Something no one pays attention to
Hanging off the young branch of a tree
A light green color
Practically yellow
This is the life of a leaf

Slowly it grows
Getting bigger and bigger
Turning a darker green
Taking a shape
Becoming its own
This is the life of a leaf

It thrives in the summer
Hanging on strong
Moving in the the wind
Never falling off
People tempted to pluck it
But just don't
This is the life of a leaf

It starts to change color
A red, orange, or yellow
It sees its friends
Fall to the ground
And know its time is coming
This is the life of a leaf

It starts to get weaker
It barely hangs on
It starts to fall
And hits the ground
It lays there among the others
This is the life of a leaf

Its gathered into a pile
And played in by kids
It starts to break apart
It says its goodbyes
Knowing its the end
The end of the life of a leaf
