Broken Lives

A pictures worth a thousand words,

When all they can ask is why:

they see and feel but then, can't even try

wish they could fly away and join the birds

but around the anckles a chain keeps them tethered in pain,

why do this to a child,

what cloud and rain could fog a brain

to destroy the innocent and mild,

scorched and torn picture of their broken lives
