Make-Believe Hugs
I try and I try to impress,
But all I get is complaints
I strive to always do my best,
But I can see their disappointment
They don’t understand how I feel when I see,
How they roll their eyes and get mad at me.
But I always know I am not alone
For God has brought me,
The love that isn’t always shown.
I go to my room and pretend he is there,
Holding me in his arms
Showing so much care.
But all I want is to feel that love
With the people around me
To make that make-believe hug made real.
For then I feel happy instead of sad,
So when I cry it won’t be for me,
But for others
Because God gave me humility.
