sometimes i feel like i am at my peak.
like nothing i do could possibly feel better.
sometimes i feel low that i just want to quit everything.
i get drowned in stress from everything going on around me.
wrapped around a pole with confusion.
filled to the rim.
filled with anything and everything that could possibly bring me down.
but i hold it together.
because moments like these,
days like today,
make everything worth it.
my time.
my effort.
worth my everything.
my dream since i can remember.
my goal since forever.
it was worth all the hard work,
every ounce of stress,
because for once,
I am worth watching.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem after I called my father to tell him I made the varsity basketball team. My dad had never been to one of my games for he lived in a different state. He always pushed me to do well in sports, but every time I looked out into the bleachers, I was hit again and again with the disappointment of him not being there. The fact that he had told me he would try to make it to one of my games during that phone call swirled so many different emotions. And that, is show this poem was created.
