The Ticking Noise

The unrelenting noise played in the background
It was faster than usual, a vicious reminder of reality
A loud, ferocious sound
The torture and brutality
TICK TICK TICK

My fists clench desperately in frustration
It is 4:00, almost too late
I needed an exhortation
I look at the screen, but it was fate
I needed more words
TICK TICK TICK

Thoughts flying everywhere
Painful vibrations of the sound
It was too much to bear
Onward bound
TICK TICK TICK

My stomach growled
But my concentration never faltered
The signs of day prowled
I wish time could be altered
TICK TICK TICK

Procrastination
A vicious word
It was a limitation
And it must be cured
TICK TICK TICK

Done
Finished
I had no sleep, none
For night had diminished
TICK TICK TICK

The sound fades
its gentle touch calms me
Thoughts, away they wade
I am free
Tick Tick Tick
