Wasn’t it just my luck that I’d fall in love
With the one guy who would leave me broken?
Like a mirror shattered to pieces left on the floor?
Wasn’t it just my luck that I’d be caught up in
Someone who has me tipped over like a salt jar
On the kitchen table?
Just my luck that I’d forgive the guy who’d push
Me under a ladder and leave me to be consumed
By the black cat of loneliness that his heartlessness conceived?
