The Struggle Between Light and Darkness
I find myself standing on my back porch,
Tranquilized by the soft glow of the moon.
It lays hidden under a wave of gray clouds,
unable to show its face.
I see a small break in the clouds a short distance away,
And as I'm waiting I begin to notice something is wrong.
The clouds vanish as they near the spot I'm staring at,
And reappear on the other end.
Before I know it the moon is engulfed by darkness,
I shiver as I feel a cold chill crawling down my spine,
And I look away from the sudden gap in the sky,
Then I notice something strange…
The house behind me wrapped in the embrace of the moons light,
While I am in the embrace of darkness.
I realize I am isolated,
I am in a world of my own.
As soon as I realize this,
Tendrils of light streak across the lawn,
And all is bright again
The moon had decided to show its dazzling face to me once more.
Yet I had found myself at peace,
I had been enlightened by the teachings of the moon.
I had just had an epiphany,
The eternal struggle between light and dark was not all it was made to be.
In fact there is no struggle at all.
For there is no such thing as light,
And the same goes for darkness.
There are only shades of grey.
