Butterflies
Where was I
When they came
To take you away?
My imagination
Has hidden me
From the light
I'm never letting go
Of your hand
Its already gone
It's already cold
But I won't let the fine-tuned details
Escape my mind
Emily
I wanted her to fall in love,
Especially with me.
To dance in the beams of the moon
That's made from paper mache.
I never had the courage to ask her to dinner
Or even to dance.
I hit the bottom
Of the sky.
When I saw Emily
Kiss herself away.
Would you know?
You can drown in the party lights...
And that you could rise
Higher
Than any moon?
I do.
When the butterflies flew your way
After passing mine,
I knew that it was right about time
To say goodbye.
Yet, I refused
Because it is so much harder
To forget than forgive.
