Stable
I worry about you when you stare,
she confided,
slowing easing my gaze back at her
and away from the backside of a
less than there waitress.
I drank the bland refill that had been offered
and let the blush drain away
before nodding my agreement,
confiding in her that
I had dreamt of reading books
and watching movies
and listening to music
that had never been discovered.
Pulling me back into
reality,
she placed my shaky fingers inside
of her own
and whispered she dreamed of
brick buildings that had never been built.
Stable as any building that wasn't there,
we were married the next year.
