Thunder rumbles and the light rain hits my window.
I look up and out searching
in the gray sky for inspiration.
A bird chirps—
And I have my poem.

This was my first poem. I had been reading Jack Kerouac and Richard Halliburton and was inspired by their writing and wanted to give it a wing . . .
