It's funny
how people
and places change.
I always thought
I would go through life there
be picked up for a first date there
pack up my things for college there.
But that's gone
because things have changed.

I always thought
she would be my best friend
and the closest thing I would ever have to a sister.

I thought
that she would be the best friend
I could carry with me for the rest of my life.
But she's drifting away
because we have changed.

I thought
for a short amount of time
that everything I knew would last forever
would succeed.
But it hasn't. Nothing is forever.
Because I have changed.
