Everything Will Be Okay
Every morning I wake up,
Only to be pushed back down,
And as I look for help,
All I hear are the echos of adults,
Repeating the same line,
That one day,
Everything will be fine.
I watch my friends rise,
And then fall, fall, fall.
I try to lift them up,
But it’s hard to help them back up,
When I’m on the ground with them,
So I do as I was taught,
I repeat the line we’ve all heard,
And promise them,
That one day,
Everything will be fine.
We keep hanging on to the dream,
We keep waiting for that one day,
When we’ll be able to say,
Everything is fine.
But I’m done waiting,
I’m not hanging on anymore,
Not today,
Today I’m going to say,
Everything is not fine
