Broken Promises

July 10, 2011
By Anonymous

You promised me you’d be okay
I can clearly remember that day
That promise meant the world to me
That promise kept me sane

And now you’ve broken it
And now you’re gone
You broke your promise
And you’ve left me behind

And day by day goes by
And I miss you more and more

And every second
I wish you were with me
And every day
I wish I were with you

This time last year you were fine
And look at you now
You’re under the ground
You’re nothing but a corpse

And look at what you’ve left behind
The commitment was yours, not mine
And all I can feel now is this internal emptiness
An emptiness that only your presence can fill
And I want you more than ever
And this time I want you forever

One of the most difficult things about writing is trying to evoke specific feelings in your reader. I think you did an amazing job. It's good I got to read this at home, or we would have had a repeat of the day at the park.
