Looking at this blank canvas,
And wondering what to create.
I hold brushes by my side,
I want this painting to be great.

I could paint what I feel,
But that would take all day.
Oh, I have an idea!
Nature, I shall convey.

I squirt out some paint,
So vibrant are the colors.
Red, blue, and green,
Purple and yellow and are the others.

I dip the brush in the paint,
And then stroke very fine.
I start off with a sketch,
A drawing of lines.

When I am finished with that,
I can add more detail.
More colors and shapes,
And paint features to scale.

I put light blue on top,
And dab some white all around.
Then dark blue on bottom,
And more white in the sound.

I make a dark green,
With some brown mixed in, too.
Then I begin to paint triangles,
Between the shades of blue.

I add light green now,
On the side down below.
And on top goes some red,
With purple to show.

Brown for the tree trunks,
And green for the leaves.
Gray for the birds
That sing in the breeze.

And when I’m done painting,
I sit back in my chair.
I look over my masterpiece,
With wonder I stare.

There are roses just blooming,
And clouds in the sky.
There are birds in the trees,
And mountains so high.

There is a lake to one side,
And water lilies, too.
The sun is gleaming down
On the water so blue.

I wish I was there,
In this fantasy world.
In this wonderful place
My imagination unfurled.
