Shadows and Silhouettes
Racing only with a darkness
Racing with something that refuses to be caught
and yet I didn't think
I only thought
If I can beat this
I am better then what I am
If I can win I am not who I have been
If I avoid defeat
I;ve changed from within
I'll never again be beat
I look and race
with the ground
A darkness so immanent but waiting
A darkness so profound
I race with my shadow
in the brightest moment of the day
To change only one thing
To change my own way
of living
I meet my own shadow
at the crack of dawn
one cold breath of air
and we both know
who's won
my heart beats
beneath my feet
a flower sprouts
and I walk away without a shadow of a doubt
