The Boy This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

I watch the boy
With blue eyes and the
Breathtaking sweep of his hair
Across his forehead.

He's all jock.
Such a newbie
Striving to fit in, but I will say
He's got good looks.

He's probably a jerk.
The cocky thinks-he-knows-our-system
Kind of guy.
When he doesn't and we all know it.

I watch the boy
With blue eyes and the
Breathtaking sweep of his hair
Across his forehead.

Light filters through the blinds.
Illuminating him, his face.
The excitement of first day
Has died down.

He's reading quietly at his desk.
He looks sincere, real.
The kind of nice guy
Everybody wants to get to know.

It's then I realize
That's all he is.
A nice guy who, I must say
He's got good looks.

I watch the boy
With blue eyes and the
Breathtaking sweep of his hair
Across his forehead.

Very nicely done...I think that is a universal feeling for new kids in school and you conveyed it well.

i like how you transition into thinking the boy looks like he is a jerk into saying he looks sincere
