Outside hide of a rhino
Inside delicate as a butterfly
True self hidden deep within
Safe from the harshness of this cruel world

Outside strong and brave
Inside broken and bleeding
Never scarring
Only scarring and recracking
Feeling out of touch, forgotten

Outside boldly smiling hello world
Inside crying completely shattered
Thick walls built strong and tall to protect an already broken heart
Before there's nothing left worth saving

I had a really rough night and wound up calling my best guy friend and crying on the phone and talking until three a.m.
