A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.
By Gandhi.

There is a city
built on a cliff
that overlooks a harsh, dead sea

There is a city
whose walls are made with bones
and caked with monster's hearts

Yes there is a city
where ten thousand mean, woman. and children, broke their backs
to build a temple that reached the heavens

Oh what a city
that defied conquerors for a thousand years
yet fell to one in a day

In a breath
becoming hell for gods and men

Yet
In this city

love resides

a beautiful glorious passion
that wiped away the darkness
and sent demons scurrying back to those dark places in the hills

In this city
there is a stirring of eyes
a quiet
like the silence before dawn
