Broken Shell.
Every ones no one
And
Anythings nothing
I am
A broken shell yet
Whole,
A shell so rare to find
But somehow
Always invisible to
The naked eye.
Damaged goods, diamond in the rough
What am I worth?
Not a second look,
Not even
A moment to spare,
Try so hard not to care
But the solitude, the emptiness
Lingers everywhere
And all I want,
All I really want is to scream so someone will hear.
It's not fair.
I am far from transparent
But you look right through me
Seeing only what you want to see
Shaping me into
Who you want me to be
But I cannot be molded
For this stone
Will never melt to clay
I have tried and tried to run away
And fill the space
With broken promises,
All misplaced
I want to be more than a name,
More than a face
But I'm only shadows of your footprints in the sand
The tide comes,
I'm so simple to erase.
Why am I here?
I don't belong
Always just a shadow
Desperate to belong...
But a broken shell
Only has her song.
