“Perchance to Dream” This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

“To sleep; perchance to dream”

For when you dream
The stars scatter
And drift into fireflies

Skyscrapers become great trees
And the darkness wraps around
Like a warm blanket

And your imagination
Runs on no leash
Away from the stark
Reality of the lit world

Travel through cities
Impossibly defying
The laws that govern the waking

Speak to the gods
For above
Drifting along their cities
Made upon the clouds

The mask of day
Is ripped away
Revealing to yourself
You

Under the sun
You may fool yourself
But when the moon
Shines its silvery light

The charades fall
By the wayside

Fall into sleep's embrace
Fall prey to its fantasies
And wonders beyond imagination

If only you
Sleep;
Perchance to dream

Wow, an excellent poem- this has made it into my list of favorites, which is a hard feat to accomplish. Well done.

I love Hamlet beyond belief, and this poem is wonderful. Enough said. :)

This is wonderful! I would just consider using more punctuation to add emphasis and drama.
