Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.

Dear stranger,

I’m just another human being
With no tangible connection to you
But I happen to be wondering
What is it like from your point of view?

And while you’re reading this poem
We might be thousands of miles apart
But distance doesn’t present a problem
When poetry is what connects our hearts

We may not have much in common
Though you never really know
We may share a similar passion
As well as the same sorrows

So tell me something, stranger
How’s life been treating you lately?
I hope that whatever the answer
This poem leaves you smiling brightly

Someday we may meet each other on the street
That day, I know my life will be complete

Yours truly, anonymous
