Fix the broken me
A back brace for my spinal cord
To help me sit up tall
To straighten out that curve of mine
To be the prettiest of them all
Some braces for my crooked teeth
To make my smile shine
To make me stand out in a room
To stand the test of time
Acne cream for my face
To wash away imperfection
To clean out dirt beneath my skin
To earn my loved ones affection
Glasses for my sightless eyes
To see the world around me
To try to learn the ways of others
To find out how to be
But there is nothing for my broken heart
That bleeds and bleeds and bleeds
From the time that you had stabbed me
You have brought me to my knees
Crying
Screaming
Dreaming
Oh why can’t I just be me?
Is there really something wrong with every part of me?
What about my nose?
My hair?
Is there any thing that goes?
Here everyone’s a critic
Constantly keeping score
And always, always asking
To change more and more and more
