Six O' Clock

It’s six o’ clock, I worry,
For I must leave before 6:30.

In the kitchen, my hot cocoa brews, as I hastily prepare for school.
The bright bulbs of my home compel me, to stay awake.

Bustling around,
I inhale my breakfast,
and watch the clock.

My eyes wander outside,
To find: the snow-coated sidewalk;
a sign of the new season.
The sky, gray as the crescent moon,
looming among the dark clouds.

I realize, that inside, all is cozy and cheery
But outside is nothing but drab and dreary.

Even still, I must depart before the snow consumes
the roads, sidewalks, and cars.
I feel my time for breakfast is growing thin,
and outside, I can hear the great wind.

I doze in the warmth of my kitchen,
I desire not to leave, but quickly hurry,
For I must leave before 6:30.
