Pen in hand

I sit here with a pen in hand
and I wonder why..
Why it has to be this way.
I want to take his place,
to let him be normal,
at least for a day.
I have lived.
He hasn't.
God, help him
help him feel alright,
let him live old, let there be a cure
God, can you hear me?
Please let this prayer work this time.
